My design approach begins with listening. Architecture, to me, is not imposed but invited; it belongs to the site that shapes it, responding to its specific conditions and its quiet demands. Each project grows through discovery, not as replication but as resonance, an extension of the landscape, the culture, and the human story it holds.  I work with local materials and reinterpret familiar forms through a contemporary lens, not to replicate tradition but to extend it. Clarity and restraint guide my choices, allowing the past to shape the present without nostalgia. Sustainability is not a trend. It is embedded in how we build, what we choose, and how we honour the land we inhabit. Before studying architecture, I trained as an architectural technologist, later graduating from the Architectural Association. I worked on residential projects with Paxton Locher and joined the Glenn Murcutt Masterclasses in Sydney and Ireland, deepening my understanding of connection, material, light, and restraint. My exhibition Exploring the Origin marked the beginning of a lifelong fascination with stone, which led me to the Amazon Rain Forest to learn from the Wai Wai and their ways of building. I founded MOOArc in London in 1996 and returned to the Channel Islands in 2000 after winning the Grandstand for Guernsey competition. Since then, I have continued to explore how local stone might speak in contemporary ways, maintaining a dialogue with the ancient past while seeking a new vernacular. I am a Director at Built Environment and Architecture Media Ltd (BEAM), which includes the operational responsibility for the Construction and Built Environment Marketing Network and the CMAs. I have held senior publishing and journalistic roles at many leading business-to-business publications and have wide experience of managing publishing and editorial teams in many markets, including civil engineering, manufacturing, telecoms, business travel, health and logistics My track record ranges widely outside core magazine publishing to encompass the launch and development of conferences, exhibitions, on-line offerings and awards as well as book publishing, training programmes and bespoke “networking” events for specific markets. Following a number of years on the Board at Emap Construct, the publishing group that included AJ, Construction News and NCE, I led the launch of Emap Communications’ first global summits – World Retail Congress and World Architecture Festival. I then worked as a consultant for many companies, including two years as the Independent Chair of RIBA Journal’s Editorial Panel As Editor of Local Government Chronicle in the 1990s I spent a year in South Africa launching a weekly national news magazine for senior local government officials at the invitation of the ANC as part of the post-Apartheid reconciliation process.
